OK, no error using quick reply. Let's try the "normal" reply...

edit: no error there, either. Is anybody still receiving the message?

OK, thanks.

I know that there've been times in the past where we've had some database errors caused by our host. This could be one of those things, but I'll keep checking back over the next day or so to make sure.

It's back again. Choked earlier and didn't let me in even with a reload, made me relogin.

Thanks. I just ran a repair on the db; hopefully that fixes the issue.

The short answer: the sessions table was corrupted and had an incorrect row count.

The longer answer: the sessions table was corrupted and had an incorrect row count, but I have no fucking idea why it happened.

The good news is that it took me longer to research the problem than it did to fix it, so if it happens again I can skip the "research" step and go right into the "fix" step. Also if it happens again with any regularity, I'll try to research why it happens.

All day today it has been clearing my last visited marks. So it says there aren't any new threads, even though there are.

Weird.

I also have that, as well as a possibly related problem. The board tracks read or unread correctly, but when I click on the little yellow page to go to the first unread post, it doesn't go to the first unread post. Here's everything I've managed to figure out:
  • The "target post" variable does not update. Theoretically, it should be updated whenever a post's read/unread status is toggled, and it should be set to the oldest (first in chronological order) post with the "unread" marker on it. Currently, it does not change at all except as following:
  • Whenever the read list is updated en masse ("mark all as read", the read reset bug), the "first unread" button works as designed once (goes to oldest unread post and updates the "first unread post" variable) and only once.
  • When a new thread is created, the "first unread" button works for it once (this takes you to the first post in the thread, and sets the "first unread" var to that post).
For example, as of right now, hitting the "newest unread" button for the Squishy Wizards thread sends me to this post, while the first unread post in the thread is (was) this one. Unfortunately, I can't think of any way to demonstrate this for you; the observer effect holds pretty strongly here.

I've been getting full read resets (like Crissa's) roughly once a week since I joined, from what I can remember. I figured it wasn't enough of a bug to report, but since someone else has it, extra data could be useful.

Thanks for letting me know. I just ran the database repair script which usually takes care of this. If you get it again, please let me know.

Out of curiosity, how many user connections are allowed?

This happened from 15:25-15:46

Thanks.

When you got the error, you had just a blank screen (other than the error)? that is, nothing site-specific loaded, just the error?

Huh, I thought I had already replied to this.

But it was a blank white screen with nothing on the page besides the error.

the page accessed was the main index.php one.

I've gotten that message several times too, over the past month. Not a strong pattern though.

After the following post the thread shifts to the far right. I suspect a messed up quote tag.

Yep, that's what it was.

Reporting those sorts of formatting issues through the report post feature is OK - I'll get to them faster, since the system will send me an e-mail.

I got a whole bunch of these a few minutes ago:

Yep, I got it as well (finally).

Thanks for the note. I do appreciate getting a general idea of not just what the problems are, but how often they crop up.

I just got it as well, lasted for several minutes.

On another note, I just got the "Pantom Page" problem on this thread, there was a 10'th page, but clicking on the link gave a "page not found" error. I believe we had this bug a long time ago, but I thought that was an earlier edition of the software at the time.

Since it ironically put me on page 10 I'm assuming it was a border condition.
